- After traveling to all 50 states solo, I’ve narrowed down the best cities to visit in the spring.
- In March and April, gorgeous azaleas bloom in Savannah.
- I can’t get enough of the mild springtime temperatures in places like Charleston and St. Louis.
There’s nothing quite like springtime — the longer days, increasing temperatures, and blooming flowers feel hopeful and bright. After a long winter, I’m always excited to start traveling during the warmer months.
I’ve visited all 50 states solo, and there are some cities I always recommend visiting in the spring, whether for lessened crowds, great weather, or fun things to do.
Here are some of my favorites.

Savannah is one of my favorite cities in the world, and, in my opinion, spring is its best season to visit.
The famous Spanish-moss-draped squares are framed by blooming azaleas in late March and April, and temperatures are typically in the 70s.
I love wandering around the historic downtown for hours, and always recommend visitors spend a morning at Forsyth Park. Then, I like to drive 30 minutes east to Tybee Island for a beach day or to watch the sunset before the summer heat and humidity arrive.

In my opinion, there’s no place in the US quite like Charleston, and spring is a great time to visit.
With pleasant temperatures typically ranging from the upper-60s to upper-70s, and easy access to several beaches (including my favorite — Folly Beach), the city is the perfect spring break escape.
I always recommend visitors spend a day just walking around the historic downtown, French Quarter, and South of Broad areas, either on their own or on one of the many walking tours.
King Street is a great place for shopping, and I like to grab a drink at one of the beautiful rooftop bars to take in views of the historic steeples.

As someone who’s traveled to New Orleans dozens of times, I don’t think there’s ever a bad time to visit.
But with temperatures ranging from mid-70’s to mid-80’s, a robust festival schedule, and blooming flowers, I always love visiting in spring.
I recommend spending time in the French Quarter, taking the streetcar to City Park and visiting the botanical garden, seeing a show at Preservation Hall, and maybe heading out of town for a few hours for a swamp tour.

St. Louis is one of my favorite underrated cities, and I love visiting it most in the springtime.
Home to Gateway Arch National Park, the city has a unique blend of urban and park land. Its massive Forest Park is larger than New York’s Central Park, and has free cultural attractions, including the St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis Science Center, and St. Louis Art Museum.
I always recommend visitors spend time in the historic Soulard neighborhood, visit the Anheuser-Busch Brewery, and catch a Cardinals baseball game.
With average temperatures ranging from the upper 50’s to the upper 70’s during the spring months, it’s a great time to enjoy this historic city.

Moab, Utah, is an adventure lover’s dream, with two national parks (Arches and Canyonlands) and two state parks (Dead Horse Point and Utahraptor State Park) nearby.
Spend the day hiking or taking a scenic drive in the parks before heading back to Moab for shopping, breweries, and dining. There are plenty of hotels and short-term rentals, along with lots of camping areas.
With high temperatures ranging from the mid-60s to mid-80s between March and May, this is the perfect time to visit the high desert.

I think Sedona has some of the most spectacular scenery in the country, and my favorite time to visit is in the spring.
With high temperatures typically ranging from the mid-60’s to mid-80s during the spring months, it’s the perfect hiking weather — which is something you’ll want to do a lot of here.
Although Sedona’s high seasons are fall and spring, there are plenty of trails, hotels, resorts, short-term rentals, and camping areas.
I recommend spending time hiking, taking a scenic drive, visiting the shops in town, and visiting a winery in the area.
